Perry is the foundation of Don’t Stop the Beat Productions where he brings a catalogue of world class musicians and friends who all love to come together and play and is very excited to see the company projects flourish and along with Roshni’s producing and tour booking knowledge to take the music far and wide! Our only mission is to stay loyal to the musicality and historical origin of the music and this is fed through our carefully chosen Musical Directors for each project.

Perry has been in the music industry for over 30 years and it was his mum that first got him into music later than most as he was 17 when she bought him his first kit.
He used to play along to The Specials, The Beat, Selecter, as he loved the energy of that music, especially as it was very similar to reggae. His cousin had a covers band and they played social clubs, and he first started to earn money doing that. The other players were all much older than him and they taught and showed him a lot of things about reggae and soca.
He listened to Carlton Barrett, Sly Dunbar, early ska drummers and also Drummie Zeb with Aswad, who he was hugely influenced by and his favourite drummer of all time is Steve Gadd.
Since then he has had the pleasure of working with artists as diverse as Tricky, Aswad, African Headcharge, Gabrielle, Yusuf Islam, Mos Def, Roots Manuva, Brinsley Forde, Jeb Loy Nichols, Adrian Sherwood, Asian Dub Foundation and Billy Ocean. He was also one of the musical directors on the award-winning ‘The Harder They Come’ musical both in the West End and in America and composer for a range of stage productions with great national reviews. For film, he composed for the Hollywood movie ‘Bad Company’ soundtrack.

Roshni trained in Stage Management and through her career she has managed over 50 professional productions including resident seasons and touring both regionally and internationally. She was also recently awarded a fellowship from her university Rose Bruford College which was a great honour.
After 12 years on the road she decided on a role change which led her to being General Manager at the Birmingham Stage Company who specialise in children's theatre.
Forever hungry to learn more she set up Don't Stop the Beat Productions in 2017 inspired by partner in crime and everything in between Perry Melius, who presented her with a world class band who she simply had to work with!
Together with their extensive music and theatre contacts they went forward to create 'An Evening of Marvin Gaye' with stunning soulful vocals by Wayne Hernandez and 'An Evening of Roots, Rock, Reggae' Mitchell Brunings in his first ever London concert which went down a storm and a tribute to the Queen of Soul herself with 'An Evening of Aretha Franklin' with Shirma Rouse from Holland in her first London debut too!
After a few years out to have a baby and deal with the challenges of the pandemic they return with An Evening of Classic Reggae!
